INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF LIGHT CELEBRATION / INTER HOUSE QUIZ COMPETITION ON LIGHT

The year 2015 has been declared as the ‘International Year of Light and Light Based Technologies’ by the UN.

Keeping this in mind, several activities related to light were taken up through the Academic Year and culminated on 3rd November, which was celebrated as the International Year of Light Day.

An integrated homework on light was planned for the summer vacation. It entailed light based activities, research projects, scientific (light based) instruments, literary work on the topic ‘light’ and several other interesting activities related to light.

Through the month of October 2015, students were enlightened about this invisible form of energy and some of its basic properties as well as applications were explained in the EVS I classes.

A preliminary written round of quiz was held on 21st October, 2015 which was followed up with the final round of Inter House Quiz Competition on 3rd November, 2015. A short video clipping on the Northern lights was also screened.

This celebration not only made the students aware about light and its various applications but also aroused their curiosity and interest to research further in the field.

TERESA BERGANZA SCHOOL, MADRID, SPAIN, OCTOBER 2015

Students of Class 5 participated in an Immersion Programme with Teresa Berganza School, in Boadilla del Monte, Madrid, Spain. The programme, from 21st October to 31st October 2015 was the fourth successful year of the Immersion Programme at Teresa Berganza School. During the school hours, many interactive classroom activities with the students of the host school was organised for our students, followed by sightseeing to nearby historical places in the second half of the day. Besides Madrid, our students also visited the World Heritage Sites such as Toledo, Cuenca and Segovia and also explored the port city of Valancia, known for its futuristic structures, full of intricate modern architecture. They enjoyed celebrating Halloween with their buddies and came back with fond memories to be cherished for a lifetime.

GEETANJALI MAKEN ENGLISH ELOCUTION CONTEST FOR P5

The Annual Geetanjali Maken English Elocution Contest for the students of P5 was held on 07.10.2015. This contest is held in the memory of Geetanjali Maken, a Modernite and daughter of the ex-President of India, Late Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma. After a preliminary round, 28 students made it to the final round of this intra class event. The result is as follows:
