The Annual Athletic Meet for students of classes P3, P4 and P5 for the academic year 2017 – 18 was held on 22.12.2017. The Chief Guest, on this occasion was Padma Bhushan, Ms M C Mary Kom. Shri Ashok Pratap Singh, President, Board of Trustees, Modern Schools along with various other distinguished guests also graced the occasion. In her address, the Chief Guest urged the students to do their best to excel in life and aim towards success in whatever they do. She also told them to work hard and be honest. The event began with the March Past by the 8 Houses of the school, complimented by the BSF Brass Band. The day celebrated the physical prowess and athletic abilities of the students. An array of sporting activities that included track and field events, gymnastics, shotput, high jump and long jump were put up by the students. The tug of war and rhythmic gymnastics provided a fun element to the programme. Every student was given an opportunity to participate in the sporting feat of his or her choice. The Trophy for Best March past and the Trophy for the highest medal tally both were bagged by Acharya Vinoba Bhave House. The event was well attended and left fond memories in the hearts of each and every one present.
Apart from commemorating victories, Sports Meets also aim at imparting lessons on sportsman spirit and camaraderie in children. Upholding this aspect of sporting events, Raghubir Singh Junior Modern School organized its 1st Inter School Athletic Meet 2017 on 16th December 2017 at the school grounds. The welcome address by the Headmistress set the tone for the day and the Meet started with a walk past by all the participants, beaming with pride and enthusiasm followed by the races. The participants from all schools put their best foot forward, leaving no stone unturned to get the medal. About 28 events took place, ranging from 80m flat race, high jump, long jump to relay races showcasing the team efforts and finally the 200m races and shot put. About 10 schools from Delhi NCR participated in the Meet with each event being keenly contested. Team RSJMS was declared the winner, however being the host school the Rolling Trophy was given to Air Force Bal Bharti School which stood second . The third position was bagged by Modern School, ECNCR Kundli. All in all, it was another perfectly executed event at RSJMS. Amidst cheers and applause, the eventful day came to an end successfully, leaving thrilling memories in the hearts of each and every one present.
The annual Geetanjali Maken English Elocution Contest for the students of P5 was held on 06.12.2017. This contest is held in the memory of Geetanjali Maken, a Modernite and daughter of the ex-President of India, Late Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma. After a preliminary round, 32 students made it to the final round of this intra class event.
