TRIP TO ITALY

“Travel is the best means of education” with this thought, every year students of our School are taken to different countries to experience the oneness of mankind amidst the myriad cultures around the world.

On 24th of March, 19 students from classes 4 and 5 along with the Headmistress and two teachers visited this year’s chosen destination, Italy.

Milan, the industrial and fashion capital of Italy was the group’s first halt. They visited the Duomo di Milano – Milan’s magnificent cathedral, UNESCO World Heritage Site – Santa Maria delle Grazie which houses one of the masterpieces of Leonardo da Vinci – The Last Supper and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele-II, one of the oldest enclosed shopping walls of the world.

Venice was the next city to be explored. St. Mark’s Basilica and glass blowing demonstration on Murano Island were the major attractions. Glass blowing or glass sculpture was entertaining as well as educating for the children and they were delighted to take back some souvenirs for their family. In addition, the children were also taken to Florence and Pisa – to witness the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa, a building blunder that became Italy’s engineering marvel.

The trip to the European paradise would have been incomplete without visiting Rome and the Vatican City. The brigade was taken on a guided tour to The Colosseum, St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums, where they were mesmerised to see on display an extensive collection of art including Michelangelo’s famous creation of Adam Fresco in the Sistine Chapel.
