Geetanjali Maken English Elocution 2018

The prestigious annual Geetanjali Maken English Elocution Contest was held on 14 December, 2018.This contest is an inter section competition of class P5, held annually in memory of a Modernite who carved a niche for herself with her great oratorical skills – the late Geetanjali Maken, daughter of the late President of India – Shri Shankar Dayal Sharma.
Total 28 participants made it to the final round. In the contest along with poetry some of the participants also delivered famous speeches and excerpts from books.
The competition was judged by Ms. Rashmi Anand and Dr. Nalini Kapoor who brought to the table an incredible amount of experience and expertise.
It was an interesting contest where all the participants gave their best and showcased great oratorical skills. After the nail biting contest, everyone was excited to know about the winners.
The good effort award was awarded to Ojas Mehlawat of P5G. Ojas recited a self-composed poem ‘Memories of my teachers’. The third prize was bagged by Shiva Puri of P5G who recited an excerpt from Roald Dahl’s ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. Second position was awarded to Riddhima Sabharwal from P5D. Riddhima recited ‘Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf’ by Roald Dahl. The participant who came first was Nergis Malhotra. Nergis delivered a speech by Mark Antony from William Shakespeare’s play Julius Ceaser.
The Judges praised all the participants for their hard work and presentation. Avni Singh of P5B was appreciated for choosing a very difficult poem and was given the award for Special Effort.
