Sports meet not only aim at commemorating victories but also at imparting lessons on sportsman spirit and camaraderie in children. The much awaited Junior Sports meet of Nursery and KG was held on 17th and 18th Feb 2017, respectively. Excitement was palpable in the air as the seats filled out with eager parents, grandparents and other family members. On 17.02.2017, the Chief Guest was Mrs. Ketaki Sood, member Board of Trustees, Modern Schools and on 18.02.2017, the Guest of Honour for the day was, the illustrious son of India, Shri Yogeshwar Dutt, one of India’s top wrestlers along with Sri Ashok Pratap Singh, President Board of Trustees, Modern Schools and other distinguished guests. The principal, vice-principal, staff and students of Teresa Berganza School, Madrid, Spain were part of this august gathering, too. The day’s proceedings began with the welcome address by the Headmistress, Ms Manju Rajput, which set the tone, followed by the releasing of balloons. It was a sight to behold as vibrantly colourful; they soared high just as did the hopes and aspirations of our young ones. The event included a string of spectacular performances presented by the little champs, brimming with enthusiasm and zest. They displayed a wide variety of colourful and innovative track events on the exciting theme “Animals and Birds” like the Rabbit Obstacle race, Save the Tiger race, We Love Animals race etc. Many environmental issues such as ‘Go Green Race’ ,’Don’t Waste in Haste Race’, ‘Share a Ride’,’Save Our Earth’, ‘Every Drop Counts Race’ were also dealt with here through fun and enjoyment. The audience cheered and applauded each effort generously. Amidst cheers and applause, the eventful day came to an end successfully, leaving thrilling memories in the hearts of each and every one present there.

A group of 20 students, escorted by their School Principal, Vice Principal and teachers arrived in Delhi on Friday 17.02.2017. The next day, the group arrived at the school premises to witness the Junior Sports Day of classes KG and P2 and enjoyed every bit of the show. On 20.02.2017, the group formally came to RSJMS for the Indian leg of the Immersion Programme between the two schools. Over the 4 days at RSJMS, our friends from TBS were treated to a variety of fun activities and the children attended classes in various subjects like English, Mathematics and Science. In the games field, the students got a chance to play various sports like basketball, football and the traditional Indian sport - kho kho. The artistic talent of the young students was on display at the craft class, computer class and the pottery session, especially organised for them. A farewell assembly held on the last day was attended by Mr Ashok Pratap Singh, President Board of Trustees, Modern Schools, Mr Carlos Varona, Director, Instituto Cervantes and Mr Pedro Navarro Serrano, Head of Studies, Instituto Cervantes. Also present on the occasion were parents of the students, who had visited Spain in October, and the members of the PTA. To give a glimpse of the Spanish culture, the visitors treated everyone to a Spanish song followed by some dancing. The programme ended with the national anthems of both countries.
A week long exciting Inter-school Basketball tournament was hosted by RSJMS from 7th to 14th February 2017. 19 teams of boys and girls from 9 leading schools of Delhi, NCR participated in this tournament. Referees (noted basketball players) from Delhi Basket-Ball Association conducted the tournament. About 40 matches were played over seven days of the tournament. In the boys’ category, team RSJMS brought laurels to the school by bagging the winner’s trophy, whereas Sanskriti school won the trophy in the girls’ segment. Individual outstanding awards were also given to Karan Veer Singh and Tanveer Jain of RSJMS for the Best Player of the tournament and the Best Shooter, respectively, amongst boys. Amongst girls, Vridhi Jain of RSJMS won the Best Dribbler award.
