In an endeavour to motivate students to showcase their singing prowess, an Intra Class Vocal Music competition was held on 12thand 13th April 2016 respectively. The categories were Indian Classical and Indian Semi- Classical forms. After a preliminary round, 14 students from P4 and 15 students from P5 were shortlisted to take part in the final round of the competition. Each participant was awarded a book and a certificate by the esteemed panel of judges. “Travel is the best means of education” with this thought, every year students of our School are taken to different countries to experience the oneness of mankind amidst the myriad cultures around the world.
On 24th of March, 19 students from classes 4 and 5 along with the Headmistress and two teachers visited this year’s chosen destination, Italy.
Milan, the industrial and fashion capital of Italy was the group’s first halt. They visited the Duomo di Milano – Milan’s magnificent cathedral, UNESCO World Heritage Site - Santa Maria delle Grazie which houses one of the masterpieces of Leonardo da Vinci – The Last Supper and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele-II, one of the oldest enclosed shopping walls of the world.
Venice was the next city to be explored. St. Mark's Basilica and glass blowing demonstration on Murano Island were the major attractions. Glass blowing or glass sculpture was entertaining as well as educating for the children and they were delighted to take back some souvenirs for their family. In addition, the children were also taken to Florence and Pisa - to witness the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa, a building blunder that became Italy’s engineering marvel.
The trip to the European paradise would have been incomplete without visiting Rome and the Vatican City. The brigade was taken on a guided tour to The Colosseum, St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums, where they were mesmerised to see on display an extensive collection of art including Michelangelo’s famous creation of Adam Fresco in the Sistine Chapel.
The Orientation Programme for the parents of the new Nursery and KG was held on 08.04.2016 in the Doris David Auditorium. The Headmistress, Mrs. Manju Rajput welcomed the parents of the new students into the RSJMS family unit and familiarized them with the School’s philosophy and motto. A detailed and interesting slide presentation provided the parents an insight into the School’s teaching methodology and curriculum, facilities and infrastructure, and the activities that take place in the Savitri Pratap and Virendra Singh block. The presentation also highlighted the values which should be inculcated in children and role of the parents in the overall development of a child.
The Nursery and KG faculty members were introduced and the orientation kits were handed over to the parents.
