The year 2015 has been declared as the ‘International Year of Light and Light Based Technologies’ by the UN.
Keeping this in mind, several activities related to light were taken up through the Academic Year and culminated on 3rd November, which was celebrated as the International Year of Light Day.
An integrated homework on light was planned for the summer vacation. It entailed light based activities, research projects, scientific (light based) instruments, literary work on the topic ‘light’ and several other interesting activities related to light.
Through the month of October 2015, students were enlightened about this invisible form of energy and some of its basic properties as well as applications were explained in the EVS I classes.
A preliminary written round of quiz was held on 21st October, 2015 which was followed up with the final round of Inter House Quiz Competition on 3rd November, 2015. A short video clipping on the Northern lights was also screened.
This celebration not only made the students aware about light and its various applications but also aroused their curiosity and interest to research further in the field.
