The Founder’s Day Function of Junior Modern School (2014 – 2015) was held on 14th February, 2015 at Sir Shankar Lal Hall, Modern School, Barakhamba Road. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Her Excellency, Ms. Gennet Zewide, Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in New Delhi. The Guest of Honour was, His Excellency, High Commissioner, Mr. Samuel Panyin Yalley of Ghana. The function was also attended by Mr. Mohamed B. Alolaimy, of the Egyptian Embassy in New Delhi. The Headmistress, Mrs. Manju Rajput welcomed the guests.
The students of RSJMS, from grade 1 to 5, put up a stupendous show ‘Invictus’. In sync with the title – meaning ‘unconquered’ – the evening was dedicated to the achievements of people of African descent and on how, despite the many stories of accomplishments and laurels of innumerable luminaries in their chosen fields, the community is even today subjected to ostracism and social injustice. The children ably showcased, the unconquerable spirit and insurmountable zeal displayed by these super-achievers in the face of an environment riddled with discrimination.
The show was well appreciated by all present at the gathering. After the programme, Mr. Ashok Pratap Singh, President Board of Trustees, Modern Schools, the Chief Guest, Her Excellency, Ms. Gennet Zewide and Dr. Kiran Datar, Chairperson RSJMS addressed the gathering with their motivational words.
