India’s 68th Independence Day was celebrated on 14th August, 2014 at RSJMS. The function began with the hoisting of the tricolour by the Chief Guest, Shri Ravish Kumar, Senior Executive Editor, NDTV. The Headmistress welcomed the guests. This was followed by messages from Shri Ashok Pratap Singh, President, Board of Trustees, Modern Schools and Dr. Kiran Dattar, the Chairperson of RS Junior Modern School. The Chief Guest also addressed the gathering on the significance of the day, mentioning that it is the responsibility of the new generation to realise the vision and dreams of the great leaders who fought for independence. A special programme titled ‘Bol, Ki Lab Azaad Hain Tere’, was put up by the students of RSJMS. As the name suggests, the central theme of the production was ‘Freedom of Speech’,which survived and helped overcome ages of suppression and injustice in India. The finale to the programme came in the form of a medley of patriotic songs sung by a group of teachers who sportingly joined their students on stage. This in-house production was scripted, choreographed and directed by the teachers themselves. It had a rich blend of music, dance, audio- visuals and forceful dialogue delivery. Their spectacular performance left everyone craving for more.A huge but coherent cast of 131 students mesmerized the audience, comprising students, teachers, special invitees and parents.

VOCAL MUSIC COMPETITION for students of P4
A vocal music competition for the students of class 4 was held on 23rd July 2014 in the school. After a round of auditions, thirteen students were selected for the final competition. The participants sang songs in various genres of light music i.e. bhajans, geet, semi classical, film songs etc. The winners of the competition were 1st position: Jasmine Kaur, P4E 2nd position: Arnav Gupta, P4F 3rd position (tie): Abeer Chopra, P4D and Sambhav Baxi, P4E They received merit certificates and gift vouchers from the judge Ms Anita Seth.
